The Des Nedhe Development Inc. was established by English River First Nation in 1991. The corporation’s mission is to engage in activities which will create sustainable employment and business opportunities for the English River people. The acquisition of Tron Power and Trikon North in 1997 is just one of the many ways in which Des Nedhe is meeting the challenge.

One of the strategic priorities of development is to increase Des Nedhe Development Inc.’s capacity to provide goods and services to northern mining companies. Companies such as Cameco have made a commitment to maximize their purchases from northern companies in order to ensure that northern residents benefit from mining activities.

With existing mines and planning developments, mining companies will require a variety of goods and services including construction and metal fabrication for example. Des Nedhe Development Inc.’s goal is to share in the economic benefits that will be available to qualified companies as a result of northern mining developments.

The mining industry is one of the most promising areas targeted by the Des Nedhe Development Inc. Previous joint venture experience has given English River a highly skilled workforce, committed to building a successful future, not only for themselves but for their future generations.
